Day 7

December 9, 2023

"And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God." - John 3:19-21

In these verses, we are reminded of the profound truth that Jesus, the light of the world, has entered into our lives. His presence exposes the darkness and reveals the state of our hearts. Some may recoil from the light, preferring to remain in the shadows, for it uncovers the darkness within.

During this Advent season, we can reflect on our own response to the light of Christ. Have we embraced the light, allowing it to transform our lives, or have we resisted, preferring the comfort of the shadows? It's a challenging question, but it's essential for our spiritual growth.

Today, consider which aspects of your life you may have kept in the shadows. Are there areas where you need to invite Christ's light to expose and heal? Remember that coming to the light is an act of courage and a step toward transformation. Let’s choose to come to the light, so that our works may be carried out in God. Through the grace and mercy of Jesus, we can experience the freedom and transformation that the light brings to our lives.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank you for sending your Son, the light of the world, into our lives. Help us to embrace the light, even when it reveals our imperfections. May our works be carried out in you, and may we find freedom and transformation in the light of Christ. In His name, we pray. Amen.
