Are you ON MISSION in 2024? The Mission of IBC is to glorify God by making Christ-like disciples who love God, His Word, HIs people, and His world.
Love God's People
January 28, 2024 • Pastor Phillip Macdonald • 1 John 3:11–18
Do we really have to love God’s people—including the ones that drive us crazy? According to Scripture, YES! Jamie Dunlop writes, “Love in the church is worship because it’s a beautiful reflection of the one who showed mercy. Love in such a way as to demonstrate the wisdom and beauty of God’s plan for your church.” In other words, we should love God’s people because God has graciously loved us and because God has wisely commanded us to love others.

ON MISSION: What are you living for in 2024? The Mission of IBC is to exalt God by making Christ-like disciples who love God, His Word, His people, and His world. A Christ-like disciple loves God’s Word (Psalm 119:97). We love God’s Word because we love God. This is because a relationship involves communication. The path to fulfilment in life is the path of delight and meditation in God’s Word (Psalm 1:1-3).

IBC exists to exalt God by making Christ-like disciples who love God, his Word, his people, and his world. This is not only IBC’s mission statement. This is the mission God calls all believers to follow; it is not optional. Today will discuss how we can be disciples and make disciples who love God. Loving God is the greatest commandment because loving God is the greatest thing you could ever do with your life.

Pastor Phillip and I are excited to present a new series this month called, “On Mission.” Where should we as individuals and we as a church focus in 2024? Success in God’s eyes calls us back to basics: The purpose of IBC is to exalt God by making Christ-like disciples who love God, God’s Word, God’s people, and God’s world. Mission is not so much what we decide to do for God as what God is doing that we can be swept up into.
