Merry Christmas, IBC! According to the Gospel of John, the Son of God was living before he was born. While the Gospel of Matthew takes us back to Abraham, and the Gospel of Luke takes us back to Adam, the Gospel of John takes us back to the beginning before the beginning — eternity past. As we ask, “What Child is This?”,

the introduction of John provides the answer: Jesus Christ is the Logos of God, the Life of God, and the Light of God.

The Servant of God

“What Child is this, who, laid to rest, On Mary’s lap is sleeping?” We have sought to answer that very question this Advent season. We have seen that Jesus Christ is The Coming of God (Matthew 1), The Word of God (John 1:1-18), and The Image of God (Hebrews 1:1-3). Today, we conclude by affirming that Jesus is The Servant of God. Because Jesus Christ is the Servant of God, we must follow His self-sacrificial example and follow Him as our sovereign Lord.
