Take Heart

John 16

Don't Overthink It

May 7, 2023 • Pastor Mark Wilson • John 16:26–33

The disciples struggled to understand Jesus for most of His ministry. But, at the end of Jesus’ Farewell Sermon, they finally get it. It took about three years for what Jesus had been saying all along to click because the disciples couldn’t take Jesus’ words at face value. Sometimes we have to trust what Jesus says and not let our questions get in the way. There’s a lot we don’t know or understand, but we know the One who knows everything. No matter what comes, we will TAKE HEART and fully trust what Jesus says because He is the One who overcame the world.

Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

April 30, 2023 • Pastor Mark Wilson • John 16:16–24

Goodbyes are sad, but they are also sweet. It’s sad to be apart, but sweet to know a reunion is coming. The disciples are learning Jesus is serious about leaving the world soon. Jesus knows His departure will bring tears, but one day they will rejoice because Jesus will return. For those of us who are in Christ, that same joy is in our future. No matter what, we can TAKE HEART…. Because we will see Jesus face-to-face one day!

Inside Is Better Than Beside

When visiting an attraction or landmark, it's common to be offered a guided tour. But, sometimes we avoid the guided tour. We think we know enough or can figure it out on our own. The problem is, you don’t know what you don’t know. A tour guide can fill you in on what you don’t know. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would guide us through this life. There’s a lot we don’t know that He can fill us in on. No matter what, TAKE HEART because we can turn to the Holy Spirit for guidance.

I Don't Got This

April 16, 2023 • Pastor Mark Wilson • John 16:1–6

In this new sermon series, we will continue to look at Jesus' final discourse with his disciples by taking a deep dive into John 16. At this point, the disciples are nervous, scared, and confused. Jesus is leaving, and apparently the world will turn against them. At this point, Jesus warns them of what will come so they will not fall away. Jesus wants the disciples to know that no matter what happens next, they are not alone. The Spirit will guide them. The Father loves them. Jesus will come back for them.
