Gladness

April 29, 2018 • Dominique Lee

Sermon Points: We don’t have JOY because we don’t know GOD, and because we don’t know GOD, we don’t know what it means for us to be SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD, which is the foundation of JOY.  There is a difference between: BEING HAPPY and  HAVING JOY. Being happy is based on circumstances lining up my way. Having joy is based on being connected to God. Gladness is expressed through both grief and gratitude.

Sermon Points: Fear is a result of disobedience in the Garden of Eden. By disobeying the will of God, Adam and Eve sinned and a result of that sin is the fear that we experience today. Fear is an uneasiness of mind upon the thought of the future and things that will happen in the future. It is accompanied by a strong desire to avoid or put off acting, and causes us to think about our security.

It is a longing to be a part of a community. Loneliness is heightened when we face moments of immense stress or struggle.
