No Difference

October 18, 2020 • Chris High

How do you value yourself? What are you worth? In today’s society, value is determined by what someone is willing to give. Value is determined about how much we are “worth”. God wants us to realize just how valuable we are to Him, and how He sent Jesus to die on the cross entirely for us. Let’s explore just how valuable we really are. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS What is something you collected when you were a child? If you had to tell someone the three most important things about you, what would you say? Read 1 Corinthians 6:20 and 1 Corinthians 7:23. What’s your reaction to a statement like this? How does this impact your day to day life? Read 2 Corinthians 5:14-16: How can we live in such a way that we see others’ value the way Christ sees them? What does it look like for you to live as though you have been redeemed?

A Different Tension

October 11, 2020 • Chris High

Have you ever felt that you are at competition with your peers? Or that you are persistently aiming to prove your self-worth? God wants you to understand that this mind set can be extraordinary destructive to both ourselves and our community. We are all created with something unique to bring to the table. Join us as we explore what it means to honor the roles of others, and how we are all the same under God’s eyes. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS What is your typical reaction when you are wronged? Read Romans 12:17-19: What is most challenging about trusting God’s justice? Where are you with the tension that God wants to lead you through the tension of justice, as a citizen of earth and heaven? Are you holding a grudge against anyone? Has anyone sinned against you? What would it look like for you to love this person in return rather than repay evil with evil? Who in your life could you honor whom you are not currently honoring? Prayer Focus: Jesus, you gave grace even when you were sinned against and wronged. Help us remember and be changed by this truth. May we see your justice experienced to everyone around us. Help us honor those around us and repay evil with the Love that was freely given to us.

Different Roles

October 4, 2020 • Chris High

All of us are created different. This is something that God created with the most beautiful and powerful intentions. However, it is our self-glorification that keeps getting in the way of the beautiful plan that He has designed. Join us as we explore the significance of our self-worth, and the importance that all of our roles play within society. Discussion Questions Last week we learned that others have something to contribute into our lives - what did that look like for you? What is a role you have in your life? What does following well look like? What are the lies that trip us up from following Him well? Read Matthew 20:25-28: How is “greatness” defined in our culture today? What does Jesus say about true greatness? What is a “not so with us” that you need to remember inside of your role(s)? How might you serve others inside your role(s) this week?

The Dream

Have you ever felt that you do not have anything to give? Or that God made a mistake when He created you and didn’t provide you with any talents? If this is you, understand that view is far from the truth. We all have something to give. God creates us to exist within a community where we all have a very specific and unique purpose. Join us as we learn how to be generous to those around us and understand what God has created us to do.

Our Struggle

September 20, 2020 • Chris High

God decided for us to be different, we were all uniquely created. And though God celebrates this, we have historically struggled with it! But why?

Discussion Questions What is something you enjoy that others may see as different (unpopular)? Pastor Chris shared with us three fundamental temptations that we face on an ongoing basis: *Pride of life (Position/Power) "I want to be..." *Lust of the flesh - (Pleasure) - “I want to feel...” *Lust of the eyes (Envy/Covet) - "I want to have..." Is there one of these temptations you find yourself having to fight off more than the others? Read Romans 12:3-6: One of the three lies the Devil uses is that of pride of position. Why is it that we need to elevate ourselves or devalue others? How does God provide a way out of our Pride? How can we soberly look at ourselves? Can we do it on our own? How can you take a step this week in soberly seeing yourself?
