Jesus returned from the country of the Gergesenes. He was immediately approached by people in need of healing. Men brought a crippled man who was sick with the palsy to Jesus. Jesus forgave the man of his sins, which upset some scribes sitting nearby.

Matthew 1

Matthew 1 Matthew gives a genealogy of Jesus Christ, showing His descent from Abraham and David. Joseph learns from an angel that his espoused wife, Mary, is to bring forth a son, who would be the Savior.

Matthew 2

Matthew 2 The events after the birth of Jesus: the visit of the magi and the attempt by King Herod to kill the infant messiah, Joseph and his family's flight into Egypt, and their later return to live in Israel, settling in Nazareth.

Matthew 3

Matthew 3 This chapter deals with the ministry of Jesus with events taking place some three decades after the close of the infancy narrative related in the previous two chapters.
