Jesus was not afraid of the powers that sought to eliminate Him, but He was grieved by the spiritual state of Jerusalem. The religious leaders would not accept God's messengers, including God Himself - Jesus.
Jesus wanted His hearers to understand that repentance is necessary because a day of judgment is coming.
Jesus brings good news to those who are suffering. It is a beautiful message that demands a response.
