Self-Control

APPLES take time outs. * Before they produce fruit, they have to chill. Literally. * Chill: cold, quiet, anonymous, dark, “unproductive.” * Necessary for the health and maturity of the tree and fruit. * If the tree during the chill is exposed to warmth too soon, the tree becomes susceptible to disease, and / or poor fruit. * Be aware of being exposed to things too soon. We need the “chill” too. We need the same time out in order to be our best sometimes. The self-controlled person has the wherewithal to say this is my limit and I am not going any further. Kindness reveals that Jesus has been at work in the soil of someone’s soul and is producing a deep change in them that affects how they see and interact with the world around them.
