When we are striving to finish well in this life, it's important to view what God is doing in others. Lavearn's life of racial, financial, and social pain did not dictate her future in Christ.

Jack's life is an example of persevering through injustice and prejudice, but the quality of his character and heart are demonstrated by his love and hope. God's love in Hadley has resulted in a life full of joy and kindness.
