Pastor Jason, drawing from 1 Kings 17:1-4 and 1 Kings 18:42-45, emphasizes our intrinsic need for the rain of God's Spirit. He identifies three types of people who especially need this divine rain: Those burned by others: Ephesians 6:16 encourages these individuals to take up the shield of faith to extinguish the fiery arrows of pain and betrayal. Those in a dry season: Unlike natural seasons, spiritual seasons change intentionally. Psalm 63:1-3 highlights a thirst for God, who promises to renew us with a new purpose, pace, and people. Those feeling lifeless or barren: Romans 8:9-11 reassures that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us, bringing life and vitality. Pastor Jason reflects on the Holy Spirit's gentle yet powerful presence, as illustrated by His descent on Jesus in the form of a dove in Luke 3:21-23. This week emphasizes cultivating a sensitivity to the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. Rt Kendall challenges us to transform our nature from that of a pigeon to that of a dove by developing sensitivity in what we say, how we treat others, and what we take in. Ephesians 4:29-32 reminds us to speak words that build up, avoid grieving the Holy Spirit, and embrace kindness and forgiveness. We are called to discern what pleases the Lord and reject the works of darkness (Ephesians 5:10-11), and to remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompts. The passage from 1 Thessalonians 5:14-23 encourages us to support one another, rejoice always, pray continually, and abstain from evil, living in a way that honors God and keeps us blameless. Ultimately, this message encourages us to embody the gentle and pure nature of the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to guide our words, actions, and thoughts.
