Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) is hailed as one of the greatest messages ever preached. Theologians and seminarians have accessed it for years as a masterpiece of brevity and impact. Matthew 5 talked about the high standard of godly perfection God demanded…a standard so high, it was unattainable in simple human strength (“You are to be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect.”) That statement alone indicates a need for a Savior, since humans are never perfect! In Matthew 6 Jesus talks about what a godly character looks like: it is absent of hypocrisy (religion without a relationship) and materialism (trusting the created rather than the Creator). In the series ‘The Walk’ we zoom in on Matthew 7. Jesus takes everything He has just said and ‘gives it legs.’ In other words, he puts it in motion in the lives of His hearers. Take a walk with us and see how God establishes your steps!
