The Morning

April 3, 2022 • Mike Martindale

Words can be powerful! They can lift us up…and they can crush us. Sometimes they do more than just communicate - sometimes they reveal. Take yourself back to what we ignominiously refer to as ‘Good Friday’ (the day Jesus was crucified). As crucifixions go, it was rather short (only six hours), but the torture heaped on the Lord during those six hours was …well literally, historic. Never had so much hurt and pain been loaded onto one human creature. Understandably, Jesus’ words were few. And yet, they were profound. They were revealing. They give us deep insight into the mindset of ‘God with skin on,’ and they draw us to the place of grace and forgiveness.
