A Changed Mind

Week 2: A Changed Mind

🔑Key Scripture Matthew 21:28-32
The Parable of the Two Sons

28 “What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went. 30 And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.

“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity.”
― James Clear, Atomic Habits

🔑God is more interested in our construction than HE is our confession.

Go means progress; it means that they left their gross and obvious sins for the sake of the kingdom. They entered the kingdom before you, which refers to the representatives of the high priests and elders of the people (v. 23). The conventionally religious who cause no scandal and go through the outward motions of religious observances can fail to respond to the demand for wholehearted repentance and complete dedication to the service of God that Jesus demanded.

🔑Some of us lack true conviction because we’ve never truly be convicted.

What made the tax collectors and prostitutes more receptive to the gospel than the Sanhedrists?

🔑Accurate self identity is a prerequisite to true faith.

🔑When the true gospel is preached it becomes a mirror for the hearer to see themselves honestly and a magnifying glass for them to see Jesus clearly.

Atomic Faith

September 6, 2020 • Bishop James Ray Taylor

Atomic Faith is a new series preached to us by Bishop James Ray Taylor. Inspired by Atomic Habits, a book authored by James Clear, this first installment of Atomic Faith pushes the believer to upgrade their faith. Matthew 17:19-20 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” In this message we learn that it is not about the size of the mustard seed but the attributes of it. Grab some thing to write with and prepare to upgrade your faith. Nothing will be impossible for you. Squad Goals

September 20, 2020 • Bishop James Ray Taylor

Week 3 of Atomic Faith challenges us to squad up! 🔑 Scripture: Mark 2:1-5 (ESV) And when he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home. 2 And many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word to them. 3 And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. 4 And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. 5 And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” After reading that scripture who stands out to you. Each person is significant but who is highlighted in this message are the squad. Who you surround yourself with can lead to freedom or demise. “… remaining part of a group after achieving a goal is crucial to maintaining your habits. It’s friendship and community that embed a new identity and help behaviors last over the long run.” ― James Clear, Atomic Habits: Here are some powerful takeaways from #SquadGoals in Atomic Faith While you may have great faith as an individual, there are levels of deliverance and destiny you will never receive until you incorporate your faith with others. In your squad you want to have people who are 🔑Information sources Someone had to receive the report of Jesus’ whereabouts. We need people in our lives that are informed beyond their own bias, that we may be instructed in what direction to go and which decisions to make. 🔑Burden bearers Because the individual in the text was paralyzed, he could not get to Jesus i.e. the place of healing and wholeness without the assistance of others. To get to the place of wholeness we must have loved ones in place that are willing to hold us. 🔑 Capacity builders The removal of the roof was an act of capacity building. It is imperative that our circle includes individuals that can see opportunities amid limitations. 🔑Creative thinkers You got to have someone that just sees things different. They think beyond what is and see what can be. The healing that Jesus produced in this text was a derivative up their incorporated faith. Some of us have been paralyzed by our sin, but this text is proof that you can be healed by your company. You definitely want to have all of the above in your squad but you also want to be the individual that can be that to someone else. The ultimate goal it so help somebody get to Jesus!
