Identifying Your Volunteers

Speaker: Lisa Machen • Lisa Machen

Lisa Machen and her husband Jim have been married for 23 years. They have 2 amazing children, Drea who is 16 and Seth who is 13. Raising these two are the most challenging ministry they have ever attempted. Jim and Lisa have served on staff at Church of the Open Door in Clinton, IA for 18 years. They served as Youth Pastors for 10 years during which they also were also the Iowa District Youth Directors. In June of 2013 Jim and Lisa became the Senior Pastors in Clinton. Lisa is the Director of Inside Out Christian Counseling in Clinton where she has the opportunity for one on one discipleship with families and individuals. In this ministry she also has the privilege to work with businesses and churches doing hiring and staff development consultations. Lisa has participated in 4 missions trips to Mexico, 2 to Ecuador, 1 to Brazil and is currently planning a trip to Cambodia in June of 2015. Lisa is passionate about helping people reach their full potential for the benefit of the Kingdom of God. This passion is not only for the community of Clinton it extends beyond the state of Iowa and even beyond the Heartland District.

Recruiting, Structure & Debriefing

Speaker: Larry Ingrum • Larry Ingrum

Larry currently leads the State Farm Life and Health Insurance Research and Innovation Team at State Farm’s corporate headquarters in Bloomington, IL. His team is responsible for Mortality/Morbidity research, predictive model development, Innovation, and data analytics related to underwriting experience. Larry is a business graduate from the University of Illinois. He holds his Chartered Life Underwriting (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations. He has been with State Farm for 26 years. Prior to State Farm he worked for Merrill Lynch and Champion Federal Savings Bank. During his tenure at State Farm, Larry has held leadership roles in Human Resources, Life Operations-Underwriting, Home Office Underwriting, Product Management and Research. He has been in his current role for the past three years. Larry and his wife Cindy have four adult children; three girls and one boy. His most noted accomplishment in the past year was hosting weddings for his two younger daughters three months apart in late 2013 and early 2014. He and Cindy will be hosting a wedding for their oldest daughter in 2015. They are also excitedly anticipating the birth of their first grandchild in April.

Utilizing Student Leaders

Speaker: Leslie Klingenmeier • Leslie Klingenmeier

A few years after completing her master’s degree in occupational therapy, Lesli reasoned that “there had to be more to life.” So, 17 years ago, the Amherst, Ohio, resident said yes to the only ministry opportunity available: children’s director at her home church. Following 12 years of serving at the Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, Lesli was appointed as the NextGen Director for the Mid-Atlantic (now the Northeast Atlantic) District providing leadership training, vision casting and coordinating camps and outreaches for young adults, youth, and children. In her free time, Lesli loves any type of outdoor activities (especially golfing) and new adventures traveling in the U.S. and abroad.

Encouraging & Appreciating Your Volunteers

Speaker: Natalie Werking • Natalie Werking

Natalie is passionate about seeing children and students of all ages growing in a very personal relationship with the Lord and impacting the world with the Gospel! She and her husband, Jameson, were married in 2006 and enjoy spending time with their adorably sweet one-year little girl, Ellanor, and purebred white German Shepherd, Safi. Running, biking, and hiking combine Natalie’s love for the outdoors with her interest in health and fitness. She does allow some indulgences, though: frozen yogurt and roasted marshmallows are her favorites!

Developing Young Leaders

Speaker: John Fehlen • John Fehlen

John is currently the Lead Pastor of West Salem Foursquare Church. Prior to that he served at Stanwood Foursquare in Washington State for 15 years, as well as in youth ministry positions in Culver City, CA and LaVerne, CA. He and his wife Denise, both graduates of Life Pacific College, have four children: Jordan, Joshua, Anna & Isaac, all of which are serving in local church ministry. John is actively involved in a number of capacities within our Foursquare family as well as a frequent camp, retreat and conference speaker. He is the author of “Intentional Impressions” which a book for fathers and their sons.
