Reaching the At-Risk
Speaker: Ryan Brown • Ryan Brown
Beginning in his early teens Ryan lived a life of brokenness and addiction which landed him at a homeless shelter in Spokane Washington at age 26. Jesus met him there, completely transformed his life and called him to serve young people. In 1999 he took the role as Foursquare youth pastor in Canby Oregon where he developed many thriving ministry models to reach and raise young passionate Christ followers. During his time there he also served as a District and National NextGen Representative for Foursquare. In 2015 he and his wife Shelly followed the Lords leading to take on the role as Youth Outreach Director at the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane where he first met Christ. His current role has him working with hundreds of teens and children in need while discipling and training scores of young leaders to do the same. He also continues to serve within Foursquare in an advisory role in the development of NextGen leaders, processes and discipleship models.
Action to Love
Speaker: Stephanie Singer • Stephanie Singer
Stephanie Singer is the founder of “Will Not Ministries” and “Action to Love”. Her focus is on strengthening the local church in making disciples of the LGBT community and provoking all people to an action to love. In 2010, Stephanie encountered God and His love and grace in a new and life changing way and that following summer she founded Will Not Ministries. She did not seek out to make a call to change doctrine, but to spark an action of love. Stephanie said “yes” to what God was calling her to do. Her impact quickly became far greater than she could ever have dreamed or imagined. God opened many doors for her to speak at schools, local churches, conferences and events. Stephanie shares her story of being raised in the church by a christian father and living with her two lesbian mothers along with the challenges she faced and how it relates to todays culture. While the name “Will Not Ministries” is a beautiful picture of how God birthed her ministry, Stephanie felt it was the season to make a change to the name. The Lord is continuing to give her and the team vision and direction for this next season and as they move forward with actions of love, showing God’s kindness and power, their ministry name has changed to “Action to Love”. This name gives a clearer expression of who they are and what they seek to do. Just as they have been changed by Jesus’ action of love, they desire to provoke others to an action to love. The ATL team has finished a toolkit that is currently available on their website. The toolkit is comprised of five sections: “Conversation Starters”, “Connecting Cultures”, “First Steps”, “Ethos”, and “Dispelling Legal Myths”. She is so excited for this resource and how God is going to use it to equip the church to rise up and reach a community of beautiful people that have been under-reached by the church.
