**Sermon Notes:**

Exodus 23:20-30 New American Standard Bible long scripture

Isaiah 55:8-9 New American Standard Bible -
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Numbers 23:19 New American Standard Bible -
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

Romans 12: 1-2 New Living Translation -
1“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
2. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Tim Keller, “Counterfeit Gods” -
“Idolatry functions widely inside religious communities when doctrinal truth is elevated to the position of a false god……their trust in the rightness of their views makes them feel superior.” (131)

“Making an idol out of doctrinal accuracy, ministry success, or moral rectitude leads to constant internal conflict, arrogance and self-righteousness, and oppression of those whose views differ.” (132)

Ephesians 1: 3 New American Standard Bible -
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”
