David knew how much sin breaks the world, and when he deals with his own sin, he runs to his God for mercy and redemption. We should recognize and confess our sins as David did, knowing that Jesus has made a way for us to be forgiven, and has given us a brand new life to live in that righteousness.

Psalm 22 is a Messianic psalm reminding us that Jesus took the abuse by his community and was forsaken by God so that through faith in Jesus we could live a life of freedom and belonging. It is okay to lament and cry out to God for help but we are reminded that through Christ and what he did for us we can turn our lament to praise.

We Trust in the Name
