Jesus In Every Book Of The Bible

Part 22 - The Gospels Pt. 3

JESUS IS… “THE SEED” IN GENESIS “THE LAMB” IN EXODUS “THE HEAD COVERING OF THE PRIEST (MITRE)” IN LEVITICUS “THE FIRE” IN NUMBERS “THE WORD” IN DEUTERONOMY “OUR FLAG OF VICTORY” IN JOSHUA “THE RIGHTEOUS JUDGE” IN JUDGES “OUR KINSMAN-REDEEMER” IN RUTH “THE MOUTH & PROPHETS” IN 1, 2 SAMUEL, 1,2 KINGS & 1,2 CHRONIC “OUR RESTORER” IN EZRA & NEHEMIAH “OUR MEDIATOR” IN ESTHER “A REVELATION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS” IN JOB “THE SON OF GOD” IN PSALMS “WISDOM” IN PROVERBS “THE GREAT SHEPHERD” IN ECCLESIATES “THE LOVER OF OUR SOULS” IN SONG OF SOLOMON. “THE SIGN” IN ISAIAH “THE BRANCH” IN JEREMIAH “THE MAN OF SORROWS” IN LAMENTATIONS “THE LORD IS THERE” IN EZEKIEL “THE GREAT STONE” IN DANIEL “OUR HUSBAND” IN HOSEA “THE BAPTIZER IN THE HOLY SPIRIT” IN JOEL “THE PLUMB LINE” IN AMOS “RULER OF THE NATIONS” IN OBADIAH “THE RISEN PROPHET” IN JONAH “THE BETHLEHEMITE” IN MICAH “THE LORD OF HOSTS” IN NAHUM “SALVATION” IN HABAKKUK “THE RETURNING KING” IN ZEPHANIAH “JESUS IN THE TEMPLE” IN HAGGAI “THE PIERCED ONE” IN ZECHARIAH “THE MESSENGER” IN MALACHI THE NEW TESTAMENT (27) (8 AUTHORS) (GOSPELS, HISTORY, LETTERS, PROPHECY) OUR PICTURE OF JESUS IN MATTHEW IS “A LION” Matthew means “the gift of Jehovah” and is the equivalent of the Greek Theodore. MATTHEWS MAIN THEMES ARE; The Messiah, Israel, the law, the kingdom, and prophecy MATTHEW, MARK, AND LUKE ARE CONSIDERED THE SYNOPTIC GOSPELS BECAUSE OF THEIR SIMILARITIES. MATTHEW’S INTENT WAS TO TEACH JEWS EVERYWHERE THAT JESUS OF NAZARETH WAS THE PROMISED MESSIAH. Matthew reveals that Jesus was anointed as Prophet, Priest and King. (1 ) shows his royal descent & the Magi were looking for a king (2) shows Jesus prophetic ministry, his atoning death as a priest (His sacrifice), and His kingly anointing. THEME VERSES Matthew 3:2 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” 3 For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said, “the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘make ready the way of the Lord, make His paths straight!’” THE PICTURE OF JESUS IN MARK IS “AN OX” MARK MEANS “A HAMMER.” MARK’S NAME OCCURS EIGHT TIMES IN THE N.T. He is also called “John-Mark” – John being his Jewish name, and Mark was his Roman name. THE GOSPEL OF MARK WAS WRITTEN PRIMARILY FOR GENTILE READERS IN GENERAL AND ROMAN READERS IN PARTICULAR. MARK PRESENTS CHRIST AS A MIGHTY WORKER RATHER THAN A THINKER. WE SEE A LOT OF MOVEMENT AND ACCOMPLISHMENT. Almost half of the book of Mark covers the last eight days of Jesus life where he gave himself away for our salvation. (last 7 out of 16) THREE GREEK WORDS FOR MIRACLE ARE USED IN THE GOSPEL OF MARK” (1) TERAS WHICH MEANS “A WONDER” (2) DUNAMNIS WHICH MEANS “MIRACLE-WORKING POWER” (3) SEMEION WHICH MENAS “A SIGN” Mark emphasized “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.” Mark 10:42-45 THEME VERSE Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” THE PICTURE OF JESUS IN LUKE IS “A MAN” LUKE MEANS “LIGHT-GIVING.” He was a physician and a gentile Christian and probably one of Paul’s converts. LUKE TRAVELED WITH PAUL AND WAS WITH HIM IN BOTH ROMAN IMPRISONMENTS. Luke emphasizes the perfect humanity of Jesus. His gospel was written primarily for the Greeks because of the emphasis on man. Luke actually wrote this and acts for Theophilus. (1:3-4) Luke traces Christ’s ancestry back to Adam (Luke 3:38) A NUMBER OF JESUS’ MIRACLES ARE RECORDED ONLY IN LUKE. At least 10 Parables are recorded only in this gospel, two of which are the prodigal son and the good Samaritan. LUKE IS THE GOSPEL OF PRAISE. It begins and ends with joy. The words rejoice and joy occur 19 times in contrast to 26 times in Mark and Matthew combined. THIS IS THE GOSPEL OF PRAYER – two parables are found here on persevering in prayer (Luke 11:5-13; 18:1-14) There are nine instances of prayer given in Jesus’ life in Luke. (3:21, 5:15-16, 6:12, 9:18, 9:29, 10:17,21, 11:1, 22:39-46, 23:34-46) THE WORD ANGEL IS USED 23 TIMES IN LUKE. THEME VERSE Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” THE PICTURE OF JESUS IN JOHN IS “THE EAGLE” JOHN MEANS “JEHOVAH IS GRACIOUS.” JOHN WROTE HIS GOSPEL AFTER THE OTHER THREE WERE WRITTEN 18 YEARS AFTER JOHN WROTE HIS GOSPEL HE WROTE THE BOOK OF REVELATION. THERE ARE SIX MIRACLES IN JOHN’S GOSPEL THAT ONLY HE RECORDED: TURNING WATER INTO WINE THE HEALING OF THE NOBLEMAN’S SON THE HEALING OF THE IMPOTENT MAN AT BETHESDA THE GIVING OF SIGHT TO A MAN BORN BLIND THE RAISING OF LAZARUS FROM THE DEAD THE DRAFT OF FISHES JOHN SHOWS IN HIS GOSPEL THAT THE MAN OF GALILEE WAS GOD. JOHN BEGINS WITH, “IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD” John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. JOHN JUST ESTABLISHED JESUS’ DIETY BY REVEALING THAT HE CREATED THE VERY WORLD WE LIVE IN. THEME VERSES John 20:30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

Judging God Faithful

October 13, 2021

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. (Hebrews 3:6 KJV) It's not always the lack of genuineness of a person’s faith that prevent them from receiving from God, but that their believing hasn’t grown to the point of being fully persuaded. Abraham didn’t receive the promise until his faith came to the point of what the bible called being “fully persuaded” (Romans 4:21). Faith that is not fully developed will lack the strength to hold fast firm to the end. 8 times we are told in the New Testament that we must “Hold fast” to the promise to the end. Here is another hold fast verse… Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised (Hebrews 10:22-23 KJV) Mrs. Nuzum said this… “The devil is busy trying to take from us what we get from God, and so God bids us hold fast.” Only a strong faith can hold fast to the end, a faith than judges God faithful. Quote: And the Lord said to Peter Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not:.. (Luke 22:31-32 KJV) There are many harvesting factors but I believe this is the reason most of God’s people don’t receive their harvests. Their faith fails them. In other words, they lack the spiritual strength to carry the promise through to a harvest. Abraham and Sarah are our first and greatest examples of Strong faith: Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. (Hebrews 11:11,12) To "judge" something is a legal terminology. Other translations say "considered". But to judge something is a much stronger word, it means it is once and for all a settled issue. It cannot be reversed. My faith is rested in that area of my life and I'm not picking it back up. Sarah didn’t always have this strong attitude of faith. Neither did Abraham. Somewhere along the way though they came to the place where they judged God faithful. Before then, she never doubted that God COULD do it, she knew that it was a promise from God But there was a lack of confidence that God WOULD do it. I want you to notice something; Sarah judged God faithful who made the promise before she could have faith for the promise. In other words, Sarah had to believe that God was faithful to His Word before she could have faith in His Word. You see many believers are doing this backwards. They are attempting to have faith in the promises without knowing the person who made those promises. Sarah judged God faithful. When you have faith in a person, faith in their word will come naturally. The bible says here that, “Sarah received strength to conceive…”. Having a strong faith, then means to have the spiritual strength to conceive & bring forth God’s promise in your own life. The same verse, tells us how Sarah received this “strength” or to conceive, “because she judged him faithful who had promised.” This is the step every believer must eventually take in order to experience God’s best in and for and through their own lives. What God promises you isn't just for your benefit. There are people that are depending on you to receive what God has for you,. Faith not to just bless your chickens in the backyard, but faith to change the world!! – Lester Sumrall Now look at verse 12. Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. (Hebrews 11:12 KJV) “Therefore sprang!” This is a harvest term. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. (Mark 4:8 KJV) Your faith needs to come to the place where you can hold fast to the promise long enough for it to spring forth into your life. Galatians 6:9 (KJV) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. In Hebrews 11:11 we see where Sarah judged God faithful and in Romans 4:21 we see were Abraham judged God faithful: it says he was “fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. In Matthew 8:26 A great storm arose and Jesus rebuked His disciples “why are you so fearful oh ye of little faith”. Notice Jesus did not say they had no faith, He said they had little faith. For some reason, the disciple’s faith had not progressed beyond little. The only reason Jesus would rebuke someone for having little faith is if He knew they should’ve had more. The reason why many fail to receive their harvests is because they're strength is small; their faith has never grown to the point of becoming fully persuaded. Faith is what you believe today. Trust is still believing tomorrow, next month and next year what you believe today. Trusting God means “I believe the promise just as much now as I did when He first spoke it to me”. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong (1 Corinthians 16:13 KJV) one commentaries definition of quit: To behave oneself with the wisdom and courage of a man, as opposed to a baby or child in Christ.( CWSDict) People can disappoint you and let you down. But we must come to the point that you say God will never let me down. There were times when it looked like it, but he didn’t. He will never disappoint me he will never want to separate himself from me. Hebrews 13:5-6 (KJV) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. (TPT) “I will never leave you alone, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!” (AMP) Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you norgive you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not,[I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake norlet [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] Lets look in Genesis 18 After Sarah overheard the angel tell Abraham she would have a baby she laughed in unbelief… Genes 18:12-14 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? 13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? 14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Regarding God’s promise, we should always come back to this question, is anything too hard for the Lord? Before we ever make a judgment, ask ourselves, is there anything too hard for God to do? 17 Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: (Jeremiah 32:17 KJV) Two questions: what does the word say? And is anything too hard for the Lord? 3 words that best describe when believers have grown to full-grown faith: Or,… 3 byproducts of having judged God faithful, reaching full-grown faith. 1. You find rest when you judge God faithful. Matthew 11:29 take my yoke upon you and you will find rest for your souls. 2. You find peace when you judge God faithful. When you find God’s peace inside of you it is not a feeling. I’m not looking for a feeling, but I am now in harmony with what God has declared that he has done for me. 3. You find joy when you judge God faithful. When you find joy it always comes as a calm delight without the emotions of doubt and fear. It’s when the joy of the Lord becomes your strength. When those three things are operating in your life you can know that you have reached a level of full-grown faith. You’re confident that God will withhold no good thing for them that walk uprightly before him.

Matt 13:11 Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has (AMP Spiritual knowledge), to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they (AMP grasp) understand. THIS PASSAGE IS FOUND IN Is 6, Mk 4, Lk 8, Jn 12, Acts 28, Rom 11 REVELATION KNOWLEDGE IS AN ASPECT OF LIGHT. ILLUMINATION, ENLIGHTENMENT, DISCERNMENT Prov 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, NKJV Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; International standard bible encyclopedia; psychologist find that man is prevailingly and persistently eye minded. In his waking life he is likely to think, imagine and remember in terms of vision. QUALIFIERS FOR REVELATION – HUMILITY RECEIVING THE WORD. RECOGNIZING IT AS TRUTH AND LIGHT. TPT James 1:22 Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. 4:17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. VIOLATION OF LIGHT IS SIN. SIN HAS TO DO WITH WHAT YOU KNOW AND WHAT YOU SEE. TO GET MORE LIGHT BE A DOER OF THE WORD. (Jn 3:21) Matt 13:13 while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, you Will keep on hearing, but will not understand; You will keep on seeing, but will not perceive; 15 for the heart of this people has become dull, with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they would see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and return, and I would heal them.’ PRAYER AND REVELATION KNOWLEDGE Eph 1:16 do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE A SUPERNATURAL RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST, WE ALSO HAVE A SUPERNATURAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE REST OF THE BODY OF CHRIST. Heb 10:24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. SUPERNATURAL RELATIONSHIPS SPARK REVELATION KNOWLEDGE IN THE BODY, ASSEMBLY IS REQUIRED John 2 Jesus speaking drew Andrew and Andrew found Peter. AMP “a separate and necessary part of it 18 But now God has placed (set) the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. SUPERNATURAL THINGS HAPPEN IN THE SUPERNATURAL CONNECTIONS. Heb 6:11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Phil 4:9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. GALATIANS OUR PICTURE OF JESUS IN GALATIANS IS “THE CRUCIFIED CHRIST” Gal 3:1 You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? 1:6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel 11 For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. 2:1 Then after an interval of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along also. 2 It was because of a revelation that I went up; and I submitted to them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but I did so in private to those who were of reputation, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain. PAUL PROCLAIMING THE IN CHRIST REALITIES 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”— 14 in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise. 5:1 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” GALATIANS TELLS US ABOUT THE WORKS OF THE FLESH AND NAMES WHAT THEY ARE AND PUTS THEM IN CATAGORIES. (EVERYTHING FROM IDOLATRY, WITCHCRAFT, SEXUAL, STRIFE, EMOTIONAL, ADDICTIONS) PAUL LISTS THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT THERE ARE 9 WORKS OF THE FLESH LISTED AND 9 FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT LISTED. Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. AFTER WE GET SAVED; LOVE, JOY AND PEACE… THEN WE HAVE FRUIT FOR OTHERS TO EAT. PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS… THERE ARE 3 FRUIT FOR GOD; FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL… THERE ARE 9 GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT THE HIGH PRIESTS GARMENT HAD POMEGRANATES AND BELLS ON THE HEM OF THE GARMENT REPRESENTING THE FRUIT AND GIFTS. THEME VERSE TPT Gal 2:20 “My old identity has been co-crucified with Messiah and no longer lives; for the nails of his cross crucified me with him. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, and dispenses his life into mine! EPHESIANS EPHESIANS IS ONE OF THE PRISON EPESTLES… (IN ROME) IT’S GOOD TO KEEP IN MIND THAT PAUL SPENT 3 YEARS IN EPHESUS (Acts 18,20) THE KEY THOUGHT OF THE BOOK IS THE GATHERING OF ALL THINGS IN JESUS CHRIST. UNITY IS EXPRESSED IN THIS BOOK. ONE BODY ONE SPIRIT ONE HOPE ONE LORD ONE FAITH ONE BAPTISM ONE FATHER OUR PICTURE OF JESUS IN EPHESIANS IS “RAISED UP & SEATED WITH HIM” Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus EPHESIANS IS THE SIT, WALK AND STAND BOOK. OUR POSITION IS FIRST TO SIT IN HEAVENLY PLACES POSSESSING OUR INHERITANCE AS CO-HEIRS WITH CHRIST. EPHESIANS TEACHES US HOW TO WALK WITH HIM. WE ARE TO WALK IN VICTORY (LIFESTYLE)– Ch’s 4-5 POSITION AFFECTS CONDITION IF YOU WALK BY FAITH. Ch 6 WE SEE WARFARE AND THE ARMOR AND WE ARE TOLD TO STAND AND PRAY. WE SIT IN HIS PRESENCE, WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND STAND AS A CONQUEROR. THERE ARE 9 IMPORTANT TERMS IN Ephesians 1 THAT REFER TO WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE FOR US. BLESSED US CHOSEN US PREDESTINATED US MADE US ACCEPTED REDEEMED US ABOUNDED TOWARD US MADE KNOWN UNTO US GIVEN US AND INHERITANCE SEALED US THE TERM “IN CHRIST” IS USED BY PAUL OVER 30 TIMES IN THIS BOOK.
