Faith For Now

August 1, 2021 • Pastor Bracken Christian • 1 Corinthians 13:12

1 Cor 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. TPT 13 Until then, there are three things that remain: faith, hope, and love… 3 INGREDIENTS VITAL TO THIS LIFE IN THE HERE AND NOW. LOVE OF COURSE IS THE GREATEST MESS 14:1 Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it—because it does. HOPE IS VITAL BECAUSE IT’S CONNECTED TO YOUR EXPECTATION. Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FAITH AND HOPE IS SUBSTANCE. Heb 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction (EVIDENCE) of things not seen. FAITH IS LOCATED IN THE HEART. HOPE IS OF THE SOUL (MIND) 1 Thess 5:8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. FAITH IS VITAL BECAUSE WITHOUT IT WE CANNOT PLEASE GOD. 2 Cor 5:1 For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, 3 inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked. 4 For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge. 6 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight— FAITH IN THE NOW MEANS; I’M WILLING TO BE CONTENT NOT TO SEE. FAITH RELATES TO TWO ETERNAL, INVISIBLE REALITIES: TO GOD HIMSELF AND TO HIS WORD. GOD HAS GIVEN EVERY MAN A MEASURE OF FAITH Rom 12:3 God has allotted to each a measure of faith. HOW DOES FAITH COME? Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. FAITH IS TO AFFECT EVERYTHING WE DO BECAUSE IT’S A LIFESTYLE Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; AND HE WAS NOT FOUND BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM UP; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. WE HAVE NO REAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD APART FROM HIS WORD Vs 6 2 WORDS FAITH AND BELIEVE… FAITH IS A NOUN, BELIEVE IS A VERB BELIEVING IS EXERCISING FAITH. EXERCISING FAITH IS BELIEVING. THE OPPOSITE OF FAITH IS? “UNBELIEF”… A NOUN. I CAN HAVE FAITH AND IT IS DORMANT. JAMES CALLS IT DEAD FAITH. James 2:14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. 18 But someone may well say, “you have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” 19 You believe that God is one. You do well; The demons also believe, and shudder. 20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. A PERSON WHO TRULY BELIEVES WILL BE CHANGED BY WHAT THEY BELIEVE. 2 Tim 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience the way my forefathers did, as I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day, longing to see you, even as I recall your tears, so that I may be filled with joy. For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well. 6 For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of god which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. Eph 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 16 In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. “FAITH OPENS THE DOOR TO THE SUPERNATUAL” (Kenneth Hagin) TPT Rom 12:25 Jesus’ God-given destiny was to be the sacrifice to take away sins, and now he is our mercy seat because of his death on the cross. We come to him for mercy, for God has made a provision for us to be forgiven by faith in the sacred blood of Jesus.

AT LYSTRA PAUL MEETS TIMOTHY. TIMOTHY BEGINS TRAVELING WITH PAUL Acts 16:5 So the churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in number daily. 6 They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; 7 and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them; 8 and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9 A vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him, and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. PHILIPPIANS PHILIPPIANS IS A PARTNER LETTER. 1:3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. 4:15 You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you alone; 16 for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. OUR PICTURE OF JESUS IN PHILIPPIANS IS “THE ATTITUDE OF CHRIST” “MIND” IS USED 10 TIMES AND “THINK” 5 TIMES. PHILIPPIANS IS A BOOK OF HUMILITY AND JOY JESUS WAS EXHAULTED BECAUSE HE WAS WILLING TO BE HUMBLE AND WE ARE TOLD TO HAVE THE SAME MIND (ATTITUDE). Philippians 2:2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; THIS ATTITUDE IS THE KEY TO WINNING THE RACE - 4 D’S DIVINE DISSATISFACTION (3:12) DEVOTION (3:13) DIRECTION (3:13) DISCIPLINE (3:15,16) 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. REJOICE ALWAYS… 4:4 PAUL, MENTIONS JOY, REJOICING, OR GLADNESS 19 TIMES IN THIS LETTER. Acts 28:30 And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all who came to him, 31 preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness, unhindered. 5 THIEVES THAT CAN ROB YOU OF YOUR JOY CIRCUMSTANCES, PEOPLE, THINGS, WORRY, & WRONG THINKING WHAT WILL MAINTAIN YOUR JOY? THE SINGLE MIND (1) THE SUBMISSIVE MIND (2) THE SPIRITUAL MIND (3) THE SECURE MIND (4) WE ARE TOLD TO BE THANKFUL… 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 1:3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy 5 Key points for the Philippians Have integrity (1:27) Be humble (2:3-4) Be positive (2:14) Remember what matters (3:13-14) Be content (4:11-12) THEME VERSES Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. COLOSSIANS COLOSSIANS WAS WRITTEN BY PAUL DURING HIS FIRST IMPRISONMENT (60 AD) TO ANSWER SOME IMPORTANT QUESTIONS. It was written to people who looked at their horoscopes for guidance. It was written to answer the relationship between diet and spiritual living. It was also written to show that God speaks to us through His Word. It was written to show that eastern religions have nothing to offer born-again believers. COLOSSE WAS THE MEETING POINT OF THE EAST AND THE WEST. THIS CITY IS NEVER MENTIONED IN THE BOOK OF ACTS BECAUSE PAUL DID NOT START THE COLOSSIAN CHURCH. Col 1:4,9 He had heard of their faith. 2:1 For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, THE CHURCH AT COLOSSE WAS AN OUTGROWTH OF PAUL’S THREE- YEAR MINISTRY IN EPHESUS (Acts 19,20:17-38) DURING PAUL’S MINISTRY AT EPHESUS, AT LEAST TWO MEN FROM COLOSSE WERE BROUGHT TO FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST; EPAPHRAS AND PHILEMON. Col 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of your number, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, sends you his greetings, always laboring earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God. OUR PICTURE OF JESUS IN COLOSSIANS IS “OUR HOPE OF GLORY” 1:26 the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, 27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. THERE ARE THREE THINGS PAUL WARNS ABOUT; LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BEGUILE YOU (2:4) LEST ANY MAN SPOIL YOU (2:8) LET NO MAN THEREFORE JUDGE YOU (2:16) PAUL’S BOTTOM LINE – FAITH IN CHRIST IS ENOUGH. DON’T ADD ANYTHING ELSE TO IT. (2:10) THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BOOKS OF EPHESIANS AND COLOSSIANS IS THAT EPHESIANS EMPHASIZES THE BODY OF CHRIST. AND COLOSSIANS EMPHASIZES CHRIST AS THE HEAD OF THE BODY. Ephesians - PAUL EPHASIZES BEING FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT (5:18) Colossians - PAUL EPHASIZES BEING FILLED WITH THE WORD (3:16) THEME VERSE Colossians 1:18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.

Eyes & Ears

October 17, 2021 • Pastor Bracken Christian

Matt 13:11 Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has (AMP Spiritual knowledge), to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they (AMP grasp) understand. 15 for the heart of this people has become dull, with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they would see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and return, and I would heal them.’ UNDERSTANDING IS WHERE WE WANT TO BE! YOU WILL NEVER POSSESS SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS TO UNDERSTAND FOR YOU. REVELATION IS – Light, Illumination, enlightenment, discernment, and its faith. (THE LOGOS - BECOMES RHEMA…YOU SPEAK IT) - HEART. REQUIREMENTS FOR MORE REVELATION HUMILITY, ESTEEM THE WORD, MINISTRY GIFTS, RELATIONSHIPS AND PRAYER RECOGNIZE THE HOLY SPIRITS INVOLVEMENT. 1 Cor 2:9 but just as it is written, “THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.”10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, TPT14 Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of God’s Spirit, for they make no sense to him. He can’t understand the revelations of the Spirit because they are only discovered by the illumination of the Spirit. John 8:31 If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” TRUTH ACCEPTED AND UNDERSTOOD BECOMES BREAKTHROUGH TRUTH. Mark 4:3 Listen to this! Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 as he was sowing, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Other seed fell on the rocky ground where it did not have much soil; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of soil. 6 And after the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. 7 Other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. 8 Other seeds fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.” 9 And He was saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” NLT 9 “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” TPT 9 If you understand this, then you need to respond.” 10 As soon as He was alone, His followers, along with the twelve, began asking Him about the parables. 11 And He was saying to them, “To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside get everything in parables, 12 so that WHILE SEEING, THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE, AND WHILE HEARING, THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND, OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT RETURN AND BE FORGIVEN.” NOT ONLY TURN FROM SINS AND BE FORGIVEN BUT PRODUCE 30,60, AND 100 FOLD. (Vs 8) THE PEOPLE WHO PERCEIVE AND UNDERSTAND MANIFEST A HARVEST. 13 And He *said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables? 14 The sower sows the word. 15 These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them. 16 In a similar way these are the ones on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy; 17 and they have no firm root in themselves, but are only temporary; then, when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they fall away. 18 And others are the ones on whom seed was sown among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, 19 but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 20 And those are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil; and they hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.” MSG 20 the seed planted in the good earth represents those who hear the Word, embrace it (hold it fast), and produce a harvest beyond their wildest dreams. THE SEED IS THE WORD 21 And He was saying to them, “A lamp is not brought to be put under a basket, is it, or under a bed? Is it not brought to be put on the lampstand? 22 For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” A PERSON WHO HAS BEEN ENLIGHTENED BY THE WORD MUST BECOME A DOER OF THE WORD. 24 And He was saying to them, “Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides. 25 For whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.” AMP 24 Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear. TPT 24 Be diligent to understand the meaning behind everything you hear, for as you do, more understanding will be given to you. And according to the depth of your longing to understand, much more will be added to you. 25 For those who listen with open hearts will receive more revelation. UNDERSTANDING REGULATES RECEIVING. 2 Tim 4:1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled (ITCHED), they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths (traditions) MSG They'll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages

Judging God Faithful

October 13, 2021

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. (Hebrews 3:6 KJV) It's not always the lack of genuineness of a person’s faith that prevent them from receiving from God, but that their believing hasn’t grown to the point of being fully persuaded. Abraham didn’t receive the promise until his faith came to the point of what the bible called being “fully persuaded” (Romans 4:21). Faith that is not fully developed will lack the strength to hold fast firm to the end. 8 times we are told in the New Testament that we must “Hold fast” to the promise to the end. Here is another hold fast verse… Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised (Hebrews 10:22-23 KJV) Mrs. Nuzum said this… “The devil is busy trying to take from us what we get from God, and so God bids us hold fast.” Only a strong faith can hold fast to the end, a faith than judges God faithful. Quote: And the Lord said to Peter Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not:.. (Luke 22:31-32 KJV) There are many harvesting factors but I believe this is the reason most of God’s people don’t receive their harvests. Their faith fails them. In other words, they lack the spiritual strength to carry the promise through to a harvest. Abraham and Sarah are our first and greatest examples of Strong faith: Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. (Hebrews 11:11,12) To "judge" something is a legal terminology. Other translations say "considered". But to judge something is a much stronger word, it means it is once and for all a settled issue. It cannot be reversed. My faith is rested in that area of my life and I'm not picking it back up. Sarah didn’t always have this strong attitude of faith. Neither did Abraham. Somewhere along the way though they came to the place where they judged God faithful. Before then, she never doubted that God COULD do it, she knew that it was a promise from God But there was a lack of confidence that God WOULD do it. I want you to notice something; Sarah judged God faithful who made the promise before she could have faith for the promise. In other words, Sarah had to believe that God was faithful to His Word before she could have faith in His Word. You see many believers are doing this backwards. They are attempting to have faith in the promises without knowing the person who made those promises. Sarah judged God faithful. When you have faith in a person, faith in their word will come naturally. The bible says here that, “Sarah received strength to conceive…”. Having a strong faith, then means to have the spiritual strength to conceive & bring forth God’s promise in your own life. The same verse, tells us how Sarah received this “strength” or to conceive, “because she judged him faithful who had promised.” This is the step every believer must eventually take in order to experience God’s best in and for and through their own lives. What God promises you isn't just for your benefit. There are people that are depending on you to receive what God has for you,. Faith not to just bless your chickens in the backyard, but faith to change the world!! – Lester Sumrall Now look at verse 12. Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. (Hebrews 11:12 KJV) “Therefore sprang!” This is a harvest term. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. (Mark 4:8 KJV) Your faith needs to come to the place where you can hold fast to the promise long enough for it to spring forth into your life. Galatians 6:9 (KJV) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. In Hebrews 11:11 we see where Sarah judged God faithful and in Romans 4:21 we see were Abraham judged God faithful: it says he was “fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. In Matthew 8:26 A great storm arose and Jesus rebuked His disciples “why are you so fearful oh ye of little faith”. Notice Jesus did not say they had no faith, He said they had little faith. For some reason, the disciple’s faith had not progressed beyond little. The only reason Jesus would rebuke someone for having little faith is if He knew they should’ve had more. The reason why many fail to receive their harvests is because they're strength is small; their faith has never grown to the point of becoming fully persuaded. Faith is what you believe today. Trust is still believing tomorrow, next month and next year what you believe today. Trusting God means “I believe the promise just as much now as I did when He first spoke it to me”. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong (1 Corinthians 16:13 KJV) one commentaries definition of quit: To behave oneself with the wisdom and courage of a man, as opposed to a baby or child in Christ.( CWSDict) People can disappoint you and let you down. But we must come to the point that you say God will never let me down. There were times when it looked like it, but he didn’t. He will never disappoint me he will never want to separate himself from me. Hebrews 13:5-6 (KJV) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. (TPT) “I will never leave you alone, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!” (AMP) Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you norgive you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not,[I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake norlet [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] Lets look in Genesis 18 After Sarah overheard the angel tell Abraham she would have a baby she laughed in unbelief… Genes 18:12-14 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? 13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? 14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Regarding God’s promise, we should always come back to this question, is anything too hard for the Lord? Before we ever make a judgment, ask ourselves, is there anything too hard for God to do? 17 Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: (Jeremiah 32:17 KJV) Two questions: what does the word say? And is anything too hard for the Lord? 3 words that best describe when believers have grown to full-grown faith: Or,… 3 byproducts of having judged God faithful, reaching full-grown faith. 1. You find rest when you judge God faithful. Matthew 11:29 take my yoke upon you and you will find rest for your souls. 2. You find peace when you judge God faithful. When you find God’s peace inside of you it is not a feeling. I’m not looking for a feeling, but I am now in harmony with what God has declared that he has done for me. 3. You find joy when you judge God faithful. When you find joy it always comes as a calm delight without the emotions of doubt and fear. It’s when the joy of the Lord becomes your strength. When those three things are operating in your life you can know that you have reached a level of full-grown faith. You’re confident that God will withhold no good thing for them that walk uprightly before him.
