Today’s sermon highlights the segment of the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus explains the nature and role of his disciples by reference to the positive characteristics of salt and light, two ever-presents in everyday life with which his listeners could readily identify. Consequently, Pastor in a passionate discourse, challenges his audience to mimic Jesus’s call by being, like salt, a preservative of righteousness in society, secondly, to shine a light on divine truth, and, ultimately, perform these actions always with a view to giving glory to God.

Today’s sermon marks the beginning of our summer series entitled “The Kingdom Unveiled”, where we visualize the veil of the Law being pulled apart by Jesus, thus revealing the Kingdom of God. We will focus on Matthew chapters 5, 6 & 7 – Jesus’ Sermon on The Mount. This is the first of five speeches delivered by Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew, and emphasizing the importance of internal purity over external observance of the law, the Sermon on the Mount serves as a blueprint for living a life that reflects the values of the Kingdom of Heaven. Further, the Beatitudes is a list that describes the Christ-follower and underscores the virtues that every Believer must pursue for Godly living
