Human Trafficking and the Church's Response

January 7, 2018 • Paul Mowery and Cory Nickols

Human trafficking is modern day slavery which affects 27 million people globally, and almost a third of those are children. Our last two presidents have pledged to dismantle, abolish, and restore the most basic rights to those who are enslaved. Proverbs 31 tells us to open our mouths for those who cannot speak for themselves and to ensure justice for those that are crushed. Join us as we welcome Cory Nickols from Destiny Rescue to share with us what their organization does, how children's lives are being changed, and what the church can do to help support and be an advocate for those who are enslaved in human trafficking.

Entering the New Year by Grace

December 31, 2017 • Jeff Barker

Can you remember the last time that God denied you access to His grace? Do you ever think that you’ve exhausted Gods grace. You might think these to be a silly question. As we consider how familiar we are with the Gospel of Gods grace, we may learn some things about what we truly believe, and perhaps our unbelief.

The Lord's Desire to Fellowship with His People

December 13, 2017 • Brian DeCook

From the beginning, God created us to fellowship with Him. Sin hinders that fellowship, but God has gone to great lengths to restore the relationship He desires with us.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-28

The Will of God • December 10, 2017 • Paul Mowery

As Apostle Paul closes out 1 Thessalonians he drills down on what God’s will is for each of our lives. And what we learn is that first and foremost, His Will is not about geography, it’s not about where He wants us, but who He wants us to be. More specific, His will is about who He wants us to be as we live out our faith among His people. Please join us as we finish chapter five of 1 Thessalonians, looking at family matters in the household of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

When They Say Peace and Safety • December 3, 2017 • Paul Mowery

Our study in 1 Thessalonians brings us to an interesting phrase, “When they say Peace and Safety sudden destruction will come upon them." What that phrase leads us to is a study of two of the most overlooked characters in the Book of the Revelation. These two characters will be responsible for bringing much pain upon a Christ rejecting World. Join us in our study of 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, as we explore what’s behind this well-known phrase “Peace and Safety."

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Our Great Hope • November 26, 2017 • Paul Mowery

The Church in ancient Thessalonica had a twisted view of death. They were under the misguided thought that there was some advantage to living until the return of Christ and that somehow if one died before the return of Christ they would be disadvantaged in some way. Join us in 1 Thessalonians 4 as the Apostle Paul gives us great and comforting words concerning loved ones who have gone on to be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:1-12

Three Steps Towards Understanding the Will of God. • November 19, 2017 • Paul Mowery

We tend to think of the will of God as being “locative”, God wants us “somewhere”, and we’re not sure where “somewhere” is. But what seems to unfold in scripture is that the will of God first and foremost has to do with character. That we are to focus on “what” God wants us to be (which is Christ like), and let Him focus on getting us to “where” He wants us to be in His time. Join us in chapter four of Thessalonians as the Apostle Paul lays out directions to finding God’s will.

1 Thessalonians 3

Moving Forward in the Face of Opposition • November 12, 2017 • Paul Mowery

The Church in ancient Thessalonica was both successful and persecuted. The Apostle Paul had received word that the church was enduring tribulation. In the face of disappointment and hardship it’s easy to lose perspective and begin to believe lies that are being whispered in your ears, that God doesn’t love, that God is mad at you, or that perhaps you’re not even a Christian at all. Join us as 1 Thessalonians chapter 3 gives us a proper perspective of living life during difficult times.

1 Thessalonians 2:13-20

The Power of the Word of God • November 5, 2017 • Paul Mowery

In the second half of 1 Thessalonians chapter two we look at how God has kept His Word from being corrupted and how His Word can work effectively in our lives. The Church of Thessalonica was greatly used of God in large part because of the relationship they had with God’s Word. Join us as we discover what they did “with” the Word and what the Word did “in” the Thessalonians.
