As dual citizens of heaven and country, we are instructed by God's Word to pray for all people because God desires all to be saved, and to pray for those in authority in order to provide the best conditions for godliness and peace. Pray with confidence because the victory has already been won in the cross of Christ Jesus!

1 John 4 shows us how we may know that we are God's children. Citizens of heaven have been overwhelmed by the love of God and confess Jesus freely. They have growing confidence in the face of final judgment, and they reflect the nature of God by loving one another.

In Matthew 22:15-22, Jesus teaches us a foundational truth to help us navigate our dual citizenship. His simple yet profound answer to those who wished to trap him between politics and faith: Render to Caesar what is his, and render to God what is His. Pay your taxes for the benefits government brings, but worship God alone because you bear His image.
