The Joy of Christmas

December 11, 2022 • Rev. Natalee Dukes Hamby, Rev. Wendy Jones • Luke 2:8–15

There is so much that fills our holiday season-- gathering with friends, watching our children at their Christmas performances, and decorating the tree. With so much good surrounding us, why do we still experience feelings of discouragement, emptiness, or sadness? Join us this Sunday as we rediscover the lasting joy of Christmas that the birth of Jesus offers us.

The Light of Christmas

December 4, 2022 • Rev. Wendy Jones • John 1:1–5

As you plan, prepare and look ahead to the celebration of Christmas, what are you hoping for? What are you looking for? What are you waiting for?     The overwhelming business of the season often gets in the way of the true meaning of the season. The Christmas lights remind us that we are waiting for the ONE who was born to bring light to the darkness.

The Promise of Christmas

November 27, 2022 • Rev. Jason Mincey • Matthew 11:1–6

Advent is a time of waiting, and waiting isn’t always easy.  It’s certainly not easy for children who are counting down the days until Christmas.  But it can be tough for adults, too.  We wait for our circumstances to change.  We wait for the people in our lives to change.  We wait for the world around us to change.  And the longer we wait, the less peaceful we feel.  Doubt and uncertainty begin to cloud our thinking.  We get distracted and discouraged.    It can happen to the best of us.  It even happened to John the Baptist.  The longer he waited for the promise of Christmas to change things, the less peaceful he felt.  Maybe you know what that’s like.  Join us this week as we explore why we feel this way sometimes, and what it says about why Jesus came in the first place.
