Leaning In To Hear God’s Voice

Leaning Into Promptings

November 19, 2023 • Rev. Jason Mincey • Galatians 5:25, John 14:16–17

Our attention is a prized commodity.  Everyone wants a piece of it.  Countless voices shout at us from every angle, all hours of the day and night.  Family, friends, coworkers; broadcast media and social media; ads and alerts, requests and expectations; pleas and threats.  The constant clamor is enough to make a person want to run away and hide.  Even a person of faith. Sometimes, that’s exactly what we need to do.  Because it’s only once we’ve run away from the noise that God can get our attention.  We need to separate ourselves from the chaos before we can hear God’s promptings.  Join us this week as we look at the story of Elijah, how God reclaimed his attention and helped him to get back on track.

Leaning Into Pain

November 12, 2023 • Rev. Wendy Jones • Matthew 8:23–26, 2 Corinthians 12:8–9

When it comes to pain, we tend to do everything in our power to avoid or run from it. But what if we thought of pain like a friend who warns. protects and looks out for our greater good? Because if we listen and pay attention to the pain – it can lead and move us toward healing. If we lean into the pain, we can hear God’s voice.

Leaning Into Doors

October 29, 2023 • Rev. Wendy Jones • John 16:13–15, Isaiah 55:8–9

Every day we enter and exit numerous different doors, without even thinking about it. But what if the open and closed doors in our lives had a far more important role than we realize? What if the doors in our lives were a means through which we could hear the voice of God?

Leaning Into Scripture

October 22, 2023 • Rev. Wendy Jones • Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16–17, Joshua 1:8

The primary way God speaks to us is through Scripture. In and through Scripture we can hear God’s voice, discover God’s promises, learn God’s ways, encounter God’s love and be changed by the Holy Spirit. If we want to hear God’s voice, we must practice the practice of consistently leaning into Scripture.
