Room at the Table

The table is set and ready for guests. At the table is the dinnerware, glassware, a floral centerpiece, chairs and napkins. Last week you came to the table and found rest. This week, everyone has come back with a potluck dish prepared to share. Jesus is sitting at the table saying, "Come, sit, there is room at the table." You pause and wonder, "Is there really room for me? Who else will be at the table? Who is missing from the table?"

Ever feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders? We walk through our days carrying around with us worry, fear, uncertainty, loneliness, and self-doubt. It often feels like we have nowhere to place or lay down all that we are carrying. But there is a place where we can find relief, help, peace and love. Jesus invites us to the table – to his table where we can discover again and again the rest for our souls.
