Behold: The Holy Spirit

The Presence of the Holy Spirit

May 28, 2023 • Rev. Jason Mincey • Acts 2:1–12

What does it take to be a disciple?  We know we’re called to follow Jesus; but when we hear names like Peter, Matthew, James and John, we wonder if we have what it takes.  Living that kind of life seems impossible.    That’s because it is impossible … for us.  Jesus doesn’t expect those who follow him to have superhuman faith.  He calls us to surrender our will to him, so that his Spirit can live through us in a way that we could never live on our own.  That’s what the disciples did – and that’s how the Holy Spirit changed the world at Pentecost.

The Promise of the Holy Spirit

May 21, 2023 • Rev. Wendy Jones • Acts 1:1–11

Have you ever been in that in between spot - where one season of life is coming to an end, and you are not sure what the next season will hold?     Jesus’ closest friends did. Just hours before his arrest, just days before his crucifixion, just before the disciples' lives would be turned upside down... Jesus made them a promise. A promise that he would not abandon them. A promise to provide them with a helper. A promise of God’s presence and power living in them. Jesus made this promise because he knew they would need the Holy Spirit.     Jesus knew we would too – everyday, all day. Especially in those in between spots when we find ourselves at the end of one season and the beginning of the next.
