The Apostle Peter gives the reason for writing his epistle in Chapter 3. Scoffers will come, challenging God's Word and tempting us to turn to the world for comfort and deliverance from trials. Pastor Mat encourages us to live in the reality that we are citizens of heaven; this is not our permanent home. Don't compromise our relationship with Jesus to give ourselves temporary relief.

He describes their character, lists their sins, and explains their allure. He cautions us not to be drawn away to follow after them. Why do people gravitate toward false prophets? How do you spot a false prophet? Do they even know that they are false prophets? These are some of the questions Pastor Mat looks at in this study. Peter was writing to people who were suffering, encouraging them with the fact that God knew how to deliver them. They did not need to turn to false prophets and worldly remedies. Neither do we.

Challenging but reassuring truths to be reminded of over and over again.
