Trust & Humility

May 26, 2024 • Chris Meads • 2 Chronicles 14:10–11, 2 Chronicles 15:1–2, 2 Chronicles 16:7–14, 2 Chronicles 26:16

Pastor Chris Meads wraps up a sermon series by examining the dangers of pride and the importance of humble, wholehearted trust in God. He looks at the life of King Asa in 2 Chronicles, who initially exemplifies radical dependence on the Lord but later falls into self-reliance and pride, facing severe divine opposition as a result. Chris warns that God will not passively allow persistent pride in believers' lives but will lovingly confront it. The antidote is to continually approach the throne of grace, receiving power through Christ to change prideful hearts. Chris exhorts the church to make this humble dependence on God their defining posture as they pursue Him in the new season, living radically consecrated lives for His glory only through obvious reliance on His power working in them.

Gentleness

May 12, 2024 • Bobby Padgett • Isaiah 42:1–4, Matthew 11:25–30

Pastor Bobby Padgett teaches on the importance of gentleness, exploring how it is a fruit of the Spirit and Trinitarian attribute that allows believers to find and show the Father. He examines passages like Isaiah 42 that describe the coming Servant who will gently yet powerfully bring justice, and Matthew 11 where Jesus invites all who are weary to come to Him for soul rest by taking His gentle yoke. Bobby emphasizes that as chosen servants and children of God, gentleness is the way to submit to Jesus rather than striving in one's own strength. By exhibiting a gentle, lowly spirit like Christ's, believers can reveal the Son so He can in turn reveal the Father to others.
