How to Suffer Well

Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”

2 Corinthians 12:8-9 (NLT) 8

How To Suffer Well:

1. Understand everyone will experience suffering in this world.

Matthew 5:45 (NLT)…For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

2. At some point you must accept it.

2 Corinthians 12:8 (NLT) 8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away.

Job 2:9 (NLT) “Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?”

3. Find encouragement in God’s promises not pointless explanations.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NLT) 16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

4. God has a purpose in our pain.
