The Abundant Life! Human Flourishing, Economic Evangelism, and Social Impact is the rallying cry and prayerful request of a people who have known oppression, marginalization, and exclusion from halls of justice, opportunity, and hope. This year’s GCOCI Synod theme issues marching orders for the Church in general, and the African American Church in particular, to empower those who eat from our tables drink from our wells. As the Spirit guides our deliberations, we will discover what permissions and prerequisites exist for churches to catalyze community flourishing and legacy impact as was modeled by Our Lord Jesus. During our time together, we will develop strategies and learn tactics for community thriving and economic prosperity that will establish the church in perpetuity and fulfill our generational mandate. We will also engage in the work of soul-care, spiritual direction, strategic resource deployment, and justice orientation.
