The goal is living in harmony for the glory of God.

This week Lead Pastor Matt Dean continues our journey through the Epistle to the Romans. He picks up in chapter 13 this week and reminds us that in view of God's mercy because we have one true King – we can honor authority over us to the best of our ability as we increasingly align our lives with Jesus. Because we have one true King – we are called to walk as God’s chosen ones – holy and beloved. How we live truly matters - how we love one another truly matters - and with eternity in mind – in word or deed – we are to live in Jesus name with thankfulness to Him.

Here’s my whole life (from You) so now I know that all that I am and all that I have is from you God. You chose me. You saved me. You awakened my heart to see you and believe. You called me yours. You accomplished my salvation. You gave me righteousness. You are my Peace. You are my eternity. And (through You) I belong to the Church and with your people - You have given me gifts to use in the gathered Church and with the community of Christ followers. God help me live by faith through the promises you have given me, God help me serve selflessly through the strength you have given me, God help me give generously through Your provision for me, God help me care for others through the capacity You have given me. God help me love people in my life through Your life in me. (to You) in this broken world I know there will be hardship, suffering, opposition, and hard choices — but I offer my life to You – a living sacrifice to You - bearing faithful witness to You.

August 21, 2022 • Matt Dean • Romans 1:18–32, Romans 2:1–11

This week, Lead Pastor Matt Dean continues in Romans 1:16-2:11. He asks, "what is our response to these passages in view of the mercy of God?". 1. We humble ourselves. I am sinful, not just you. We are sinful – not just “they are sinful.” I need Jesus; you need Jesus; they need Jesus. Help me remember the Gospel as I help you remember the Gospel – and together, we have been given this ministry to proclaim this Gospel to the ends of the earth. 2. Remember, God is grieved by sin – but never defined by sin. Jesus took on our sin, our punishment for sin – but only by choice, only by love. God is the definition and standard of what is right, good, and Holy. So any human endeavor to redefine what God has defined and designed is simply a further indication that debased thinking is misdirected worship. 3. When we see people living in ways outside of God’s design, we should first be humble and remember that we are not responsible for other people’s choices, but we are responsible for how we live and how we love other people. Lead with grace, live out the truth, and remember God’s kindness leads us to repentance.
