On February 10 at 8:30 and 10:00 am, we are going to participate in a global initiative entitled Kids Against Hunger. In the US, we don’t often give a whole lot of thought to poverty that exists globally due to our abundance, but the statistics are staggering. The UN Food and Agricultural Organization estimates that about 795 million people, or one in nine, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2014 to 2016. Every six seconds a child dies because of hunger and related causes. We cannot fix the problem, but we can make a difference, and February 10 is our opportunity to do just that. We will be packaging 60,000 meals that day that will go to help meet the need. We are asking everyone to be involved.
