With Us for Eternity

December 19, 2021 • Pastor Ben Johnson

This past week we were reminded that Jesus will return for us. Jesus said “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18), intending to mean the sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. But the truth is applicable to His Second Coming too! He won’t leave us here. He will return for us! But He will return for us to take us to be where He http://is...for eternity. When Jesus returns our redemption will be completed. To be sure, Jesus has finished the work for us in order for us to be in heaven forever, but we nonetheless wait for Him to return so that we can be, well, completely complete in Him! Today we remember, Jesus promised us, He will be “With Us for Eternity”!

With Us in the Future

December 15, 2021 • Pastor Ben Johnson

When we are children we are given the promise that at the end of the day our parent or parents will return home for us. We long for that moment in time. We look for that moment in time because they are not with us and we want to see them so badly. We’ve remembered the wonderful truth that Jesus is with us always and with us always to the end of the age. But this week we’ll remember that the Lord, who is in fact with us always, will be with us in the future too. He is coming for us. He is returning to not only be with us physically, but to take us home where we really belong! Today we’ll remember that our ever-present Lord will be “With Us in the Future”!

With Us in Difficulty

December 12, 2021 • Pastor Ben Johnson

Sometimes we get hung up in our faith, believing that Jesus came to us in Baptism and as we’ll look at in the coming weeks, He’ll come again to take us home to Himself. Somehow, we miss that He is with us not just in our faith walk as we discovered in midweek, but furthermore He is with us when our faith walk goes awry, when our lives are difficult. What a blessing to know that in this world that Jesus promised would bring us “tribulation”, we can know that He is in fact not only on our side but in fact, carrying us by His side. He is with us. He is with us always. But today, let’s take great comfort in the fact that He is “With Us in Difficulty”!

With Us in Our Daily Walk

December 8, 2021 • Pastor Tim Phillips

This week we’ve been reminded that Jesus comes to us in the living and active Word of God. We were reminded that while He walked this earth and spoke His Word 2000 years ago, we can know and trust that He continues to be present in our lives through that very same Word 2000 years hence. More than that however, today we remember that Jesus is not just with us in His Word, but He is also with us in our very being! Through Baptism, His words to us in Matthew 28 are verifiably true. Jesus said “I will be with you always, even to the very end of the age.” When He came into our bodies through the waters of Baptism, He proved His Word to be true and more than that, proved that He’d be “With Us in Our Daily Walk” until the end of time! Thank you Jesus!

With Us as God

While we accept it willingly, one of the more difficult concepts for the Disciples to wrap their brain around in this idea of “The Incarnation” of Jesus, was that Jesus was actually http://god...in the flesh. They saw the “flesh guy”. They saw the human being, the Rabbi, the Friend, the Mentor. But they had trouble seeing that He was literally God. Not so for us! We see all that He did and the fact that He raised Himself from the dead and we KNOW without a doubt that He is God. But we need the reminder nonetheless. You see, He’s not just “Sunday School Jesus” to be taken off the shelf once a week for an http://hour...but as God, He is our http://lord...he is our Master. Today we remember that when Jesus came to us, He was “With Us as God” then and He remains so now and that truth has implications for our lives every day!

With Us in His Word

December 5, 2021 • Pastor Ben Johnson

The truth of “God With Us” is absolutely mind-blowing to be sure. Couple that with the fact that He didn’t just come to us long ago, but He willingly and intentionally comes to us in our day and time. Granted it seems different than Him walking this earth and speaking to us in our hearing, but Jesus nonetheless walks among us and speaks to us through His Spirit-filled Word! He didn’t come 2000 years ago and hope we’d grope our way towards http://him...he instead seeks us out and brings us to faith and keeps us in the faith through His living and active, ever-enduring, Spirit-filled Word! Thank you http://jesus...he is “With Us in His Word”!

With Us as One of Us

“The Incarnation”http://...that’s what it’s called that Jesus, the God of the Universe, took on flesh and dwelt among us. “The Incarnation”http://...the truth of it is a big and mysterious as the phrase itself. Seriously, God became a human being? http://god..the Almighty http://god...took on a man’s body? We have great difficulty being able to believe that Jesus was, in all the fullness of the term, a human being. We see the miracles. We see the healings. We see the God-http://nature...but this miracle working, healer, was also 100% bona-fide human being! Amazing! Amazing indeed! “Amazing Grace” as well! As it is often said, “He was born in Bethlehem that we might be born again!” Praise you http://jesus...today we’ll remember that in Jesus, God was “With Us as One of Us”!
