His Gifts & Talents (Johnson)

We have all been given gifts, skills and abilities that are unique to ourselves and all of them are a gift from God. Psalm 139 says that God made us, knit us, and we are fearfully and wonderfully made. He designed everything about us and that includes the gifts and talents He has given us. These gifts and talents weren’t meant just so that we could serve our own purposes with them but so that we could serve others with them. Unfortunately, there are so many people who, for one reason or another, bury those talents and don’t put them to work for God’s Kingdom. How does God desire you to serve and bless others as you use…His gifts and talents?

Scripture has a lot to say about money and most of the messages revolve around the reality that it is a gift from God, that much good can be done with it, that our hearts our prone to lust after it, and that we need to be careful because it can very quickly become something that we desire even more than God Himself. As God’s people we have been called to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and God promises that as we do, He will provide for us everything we need. Think of all the ways that we can be a blessing to others as we steward well…His Money.

In the beginning God created everything. From the stars in the heavens to the fish in the oceans and every tree, plant and animal… everything found its existence in the imagination of God. Adam & Eve were given the responsibility of watching over, caring for, and working this creation that God had given to them. We honor God as we take care of the gift that He has given and not just using it for whatever we want to use it for. When you look out at the environment today, and you see how humanity is treating it, no wonder creation is longing for the return of Jesus! In the beginning God created our bodies from the dust of the ground and then it was His breath in us that gave us life. God is life and apart from God there is no life to be found. Jesus came as to not only redeem our souls but to redeem our bodies as well. Jesus came to forgive us, renew us, heal us, and then fill us with the Holy Spirit. Paul says we are now temples of the Holy Spirit and that we are to honor God with our bodies.
