Justice - Kindness - Humility

Walk Humbly (Meyer)

August 29, 2021

There is truly no uglier sin than the sin of pride. Prideful people are repugnant and repulsive and are so because they generally push others aside to gain their own glory. Christians are expected to find pride especially unacceptable because we stand next to the one and only one who deserves glory, honor and praise, and that’s the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus says to us “Follow Me!” and when we follow Him, when we walk with Him, we see something truly amazing in our Lord. Not only do we see His glory, but we also find out that even though He has all rights to be prideful and arrogant, we instead see a humble Savior. We see a humble Savior who took on the form of a servant and being found in human likeness, humbled Himself to death on a cross for us! As we encounter the deep and amazing humility of the Lord Jesus, we are not only called to humility by Him, but we are enabled by His Holy Spirit to “Walk Humbly” with Him every single day!

Love Kindness (Meyer)

August 22, 2021

Kindness is one of those traits in people that we all love to experience. The “kind” people in our lives are people that we’re drawn to like a magnet. Lately however, it seems like someone opened a hateful drain and all the kindness in the world has rushed out, flushed away. But we know that while it feels like there’s no more kindness in the world, we also know it’s not true because we’re in the world. Oh, we can be hateful and hurtful too, but because of Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and lives, we can “be the kindness” that everyone is craving. We love Jesus with all our hearts, minds and souls and through Him we’re then enabled to “Love Kindness” and truly show others what Jesus followers are all about!

Act Justly (Johnson)

August 15, 2021

Our world is a place where injustice abounds. So many in our world suffer and they do so needlessly. Sad but true, so many in our world suffer and do so needlessly, simply because people ignore their suffering, don’t care about others and/or won’t help even if they can. However, we serve a living God who does care about us and those we http://encounter...and a living God who furthermore wants something done for the widows and orphans and hurting and disenfranchised. As Christians we are then called to hear God’s voice and open our eyes to the injustice and suffering around us and live out our faith by making a difference in the lives of others. Because we have faith in the living loving Lord who is concerned about the widow and the orphan, as well as the hurting and the disenfranchised, we will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, quite naturally desire along with Him to “Act Justly” in this world.
