Transforming my heart into a Forever Home with Jesus

Of all the rooms of the house, perhaps the one most overlooked is the Hall Closet. And yet, it may very well be one of the most critical in our journey of welcoming Christ fully into every area of our lives, because it is often the place we’ve put the things that are hardest or most challenging in our life with Christ. Can we surrender even what is in there? Today we’ll explore the challenges we face with the closet.

The Bedroom often seems to be a very private place, but Jesus wants to be a part of that life as much as anything else happening in our lives. But are we comfortable with what goes on, with what we’re doing? Have we allowed the contemporary culture to shape our values and lifestyle – especially as it relates to our sexuality – more than the Bible and Jesus? Let’s see what Jesus and the Bible can teach us.

We all have a Rec Room area in our life. We use at some point during the week or weekend. Reading books, watching T.V. or participating in sports. Where does Jesus fit in this area of our lives?

Our message this Sunday will be examining the Living Room as we continue our series, Forever Home. In light of Super Bowl Sunday, we will be watching and then be pulling out the biblical truths of three commercials during the message. The main biblical truth from each commercial will relate to the Living Room, which is the room where we should be spending time with Jesus. When we don’t read God’s Word and pray with Him, we leave Jesus alone and waiting for us in the Living Room. Our message will help us come up with a plan to remove distractions and spend time with Jesus in the Living Room of our hearts.

Forever Home - Part 2

Life offers us so many options and so many good things. The Dining Room offers us a place that seems to fulfill all our wants and desires so that life is good. But what if being focused on our wants and desires, on the things of this world, causes us to miss out on God’s best for us? What if we’ve confused wants and desires with what we really need? Today we’ll explore how Jesus can help us in The Dining Room of our lives.

Forever Home - Part 1

The first room we’ll be looking at, starting today, is the study or, in effect, the mind. The mind is the control center for our lives, and it is powerfully affected by what we let into it. And a concern is whether the things we’re letting in are things we’d be ok with Christ seeing in us. As we’ll see, Christ wants to come into our study, our mind, and help us focus on him and those things that build up our lives and help us experience God’s best for daily living.
