The coronavirus pandemic and all the turmoil in our nation have been reminding us that we really do need others. The Bible agrees, but it takes it a step further to show that this “need” was actually baked into our creation. What’s more we’ll miss out on some of God’s best desires for us when we fail to participate in biblical community. It’s easy to allow ourselves to slowly become disconnected from God’s people, but today we’ll see how God has always addressed this in us.

Keeping the Main Thing The Main Thing - Part 2

Many of us have heard the description of David, that he was “a man after my own heart,” but what does it mean when God says that? It’s clear that this is a good thing, but there’s a danger here. We might be inclined to start with our action and our achievement, which aren’t inherently bad things, but they’re not the same things as focusing our hearts first on God’s heart and His achievement in and through us. Today we’ll see how this idea helps us keep the main thing the main thing.

Doing or Being?

Most of us often characterize ourselves by what we do, and sometimes what we do becomes more important than who we are. In a funny sort of way, we need to remember that we were created to be Human Beings, not Human Doings. Our identity – which Christians believe is ultimately found in Christ – should guide our actions, versus what’s happening around us, even coming out of a crazy year like 2020. So, this morning we’re taking the opportunity to not only think about this, but commit to it, too!
