Part 8: Love Seeks

October 13, 2019 • Randy Hageman

Unleashing God’s love is a decision we make to share the love of Christ with others in practical, daily ways. It’s certainly actions that include being kind and forgiving. But it also includes sharing the Good News of this love with others. We’re called by God to unleash His love by seeking out those who don’t know it or have forgotten about it and share this Good News with them!

Part 7: Love Lasts

October 6, 2019 • Randy Hageman

Unleashing God’s love is not a simple wish or desire – it takes work, action; it’s a verb! And it’s hard. But the Apostle Paul reminds us that God’s love, the love Christ lived, and the love he models for us to live through the help and power of his Spirit, this love lasts and never gives up. It’s impossible apart from Christ, and yet, with it, we are transformed! And when we unleash his love, it transforms our families, church, community and world!

Part 6: Love Sees

September 29, 2019 • Susan Hageman

As we make our way through portions of “the love chapter,” we come to 1 Corinthians 13:6: “Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.” (NIV) What was Paul trying to say to the young church in Corinth when he wrote this letter to them around A.D. 55? And how does it apply to not only our world, but to your life and my life in the here and now? Today we will consider what delighting in evil or rejoicing with truth have to do with unleashing God’s love.

Part 5: Love Forgives

Love is a verb, an action, and it’s always directed toward people. Sometimes that’s easy, when relationships are good and healthy. But sometimes those relationships are strained or have been damaged. 1 Corinthians 13 tells us love doesn’t get easily angered or keep track of wrongs. That can be hard, and even seem impossible! What does that look like in our daily lives? We’ll explore that today in order to see how we can unleash God’s love.

Part 4: Love Honors

September 15, 2019 • Randy Hageman

Life is often hard and unfair. Our almost constant temptation is to get even, to talk about others behind their back because they did that to us, to make fun of those who are different. But Jesus called us to a counter-cultural lifestyle – to love! And 1 Corinthians 13 tells us that to unleash love means love honors others and isn’t selfish. This may not sound very fair when others are mistreating us, but disciples of Jesus are called to a higher, and better standard, as we’ll see today!

Part 3: Love Sacrifices

September 8, 2019 • Randy Hageman

The world around us encourages us to look out for ourselves because no one else will. We do need to take care of ourselves, but too often today taking care of ourselves becomes more about putting ourselves first, of lifting ourselves up at the expense of others. But love calls us to a different lifestyle, that in the short-term doesn’t seem to pay off very well. But Jesus promises us that to serve others and sacrifice for their sake is always worth it!

Part 2: Love Cares

September 1, 2019 • Carson Minish

Every day, people utter the words “I love you” to those for whom they care. But are we really loving others in the way that Christ called us to love? Are we really caring for them in the way that we were meant to care for them? Today we are going to look at how patience plays a vital role in caring for the people we love.
