September 22, 2019 • Randy Hageman

Love is a verb, an action, and it’s always directed toward people. Sometimes that’s easy, when relationships are good and healthy. But sometimes those relationships are strained or have been damaged. 1 Corinthians 13 tells us love doesn’t get easily angered or keep track of wrongs. That can be hard, and even seem impossible! What does that look like in our daily lives? We’ll explore that today in order to see how we can unleash God’s love.

Unleashing God’s love is a decision we make to share the love of Christ with others in practical, daily ways. It’s certainly actions that include being kind and forgiving. But it also includes sharing the Good News of this love with others. We’re called by God to unleash His love by seeking out those who don’t know it or have forgotten about it and share this Good News with them!

Unleashing God’s love is not a simple wish or desire – it takes work, action; it’s a verb! And it’s hard. But the Apostle Paul reminds us that God’s love, the love Christ lived, and the love he models for us to live through the help and power of his Spirit, this love lasts and never gives up. It’s impossible apart from Christ, and yet, with it, we are transformed! And when we unleash his love, it transforms our families, church, community and world!

And how does it apply to not only our world, but to your life and my life in the here and now? Today we will consider what delighting in evil or rejoicing with truth have to do with unleashing God’s love.
