God is the one that gives us all good gifts, and he is the one that allows us to enjoy them. Our satisfaction doesn’t lie in the gifts themselves, but in the one who gives them.

Ecclesiastes 3:16-4:16
September 21, 2023 • Jaime Carnaggio • Ecclesiastes 3:16—4:16
Solomon exposed many dark realities of our life under the sun (injustice, oppression, envy, complacency, isolation and ultimately death). It’s tempting to sit in despair over so much we can’t control and so much we don’t understand. But the Lord gives us glimpses of life “above the sun” to move us to contentment and even joy. We can rest knowing that our confidence doesn’t lie in a justice system, but in the Chief Justice himself. We find help and encouragement within the community of faith, in which he has placed us. And because our Lord Jesus Christ abolished death once for all, we have the hope and assurance of everlasting life.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-15
September 14, 2023 • Jaime Carnaggio • Ecclesiastes 3:1–15
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he
cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
What a hopeful verse to cling to; knowing that God is sovereign over every season under heaven and that everything is unfolding in his divine timing. And although much remains a mystery to us, he has placed eternity on our hearts, reminding us that he is weaving all things together for our good and his glory.
Ecclesiastes 2
September 7, 2023 • Jaime Carnaggio • Ecclesiastes 2
We hold sorrow in one hand, over life “under the sun,” over the brokenness of our fallen world that’s cursed by sin. But we hold joy in the other hand as we consider our life “above the sun,” made possible through the Son . . . there, we find purpose and meaning and lasting satisfaction.
Ecclesiastes 1
August 31, 2023 • Jaime Carnaggio • Ecclesiastes 1
Although life “under the sun” is brief and bleak (nothing new, nothing remembered), life “through the Son” is eternal, joyful, significant and substantial.
