I want my life to be a blessing to everyone around me. Using this series as a spiring board there is a recipe. In order to enjoy then I need an appetizer. Something that sets me up for success. Today we have a recipe for an amazing recipe to make your life more delicious. Here are two questions we have used to get us thinking….What are you doing? What should you be doing? Great questions! How about these questions…. Am I doing the right thing? Am I doing the right thing the right way? Am I doing the right thing the right way for the right reasons? Am I doing the right thing the right way for the right reasons with the right kind of love These four questions are from Augustine and His confessions. He called them the four questions of the soul. They are designed for self reflection and correction.

God puts us into a family. I said that last week. He puts us into a birth family, sometimes is an adoption into a birth family, and he puts us into a church family…the family of God. church family and birth families are a lot like a potluck…you get what you get! We function best in environment of family. For a family to function in health there must be structure…we could call it a recipe. Every family is different and every church family is different but there are commonalities that define every http://family.our church family has a recipe. We also have a clear purpose…Building Lives that honor God by leading people to Love God and Grow, Love Others and go. These life commitments help us to thrive as a church family and they can help your family thrive as well. In order to have a Life Built by God there must be a decision to allow God to do His purposes in, for, and through us. It sounds funny to say “allow God”, but He is a gentle God who woos us and never forces us. We therefore, must choose to live the life God has for you and both of your families…birth and church families.

Introduction: Family is a loaded word. For some it invokes warmth and security but for others in offers up drama and dysfunction. However, God has created us to be in a family. We are born into a family and we spend our lives looking for a family. I’ve heard it said, you have two types of families, the one you are born into and the one you choose. The church is to be that family….its a bit different because you are chosen by God to be a part and you decide to connect. One of the most compelling reasons we came to this church was the feeling of family. We had history with Bard and Skip, a long history with Victoria, mostly we were coming out of a season of hurt and betrayal that caused us to long for the safety of a spiritual family. We needed Fellowship of the Crossroads and hopefully we have made a difference as a part of this family. God started the church to be a family!
