By its very nature, Christianity is both a universal faith and a missionary religion. This course provides an overview of the expansion of the faith from its origins in first century Jerusalem to its global influence in the early decades of the 21st century. It will acquaint us with some of the major events, ideas, people and forces that have facilitated as well as hindered the growth of Christianity through the centuries. By providing a historical, theological and apologetic foundation, this course will give Christians a sense of their historical ancestry and will provide context, meaning and motivation for both personal and corporate ministry.
