It all began on Thursday February 18, 1858, a sequence of events, 18 in all, of a beautiful Lady clothed in a brilliant and unearthly white robe, with a blue sash around her waist and a white veil on her head. She appeared to a 14 year old poor peasant girl by the name of Bernadette Soubirous.
During the 9th apparition, on February 25, 1958, the Lady asked Bernadette to "Drink from the Fountain and bathe in it." As Bernadette dug into the ground a little pool formed. She cupped her hands together and drank and then washed her face.
The 16th apparition occured on March 25, 1958, which was the Feast of the Annunciation. The Lady joined her hands and raised them to her breast while looking to the heavens and said "I am the Immaculate Conception"
The discovery of that miraculous spring in the Massibieille Grotto was to make not only Lourdes, France famous but grottos of "Our Lady of Lourdes" famous around the world.

We Love You, Big Momma!
Fr Tony Ricard
Of all the Mommas and other women who have made it into Heaven - Ruth, Naomi, Elizabeth, and Rite, to Anne and Anestasia - Mary, the Mother of Jesus has got to be the biggest of them all, BIGGEST as in the Matriarch of the Saints of God. When Mary said "Yes" to God, she committed herself to not only being the Mother of Jesus, but also to bringing the knowledge of her Son to the entire world. Mary was a women of deep faith, she stood by her Son through thick and thin. Through her Son, the scriptures were fulfilled. That's why Fr. Tony Ricard loves to refer to Mary as the Big Momma of Heaven. We Love You Big Momma... That's Our Focus!
