So You May Remember

So You Might Remember

November 19, 2023

Sermon Notes: November 16 & 19 “So You Might Remember” Scripture Deuteronomy 8:7-18 As Moses was instructing the people, giving them the law, he warned them when they entered a land of prosperity, to not forget God. He encouraged them to recall what God has done and give thanks by keeping God’s law. Moses knew that it would be easy for the Israelites to be distracted and forget to be grateful. Without remembrance and grateful hearts, it would be easy for them to fail to keep God’s commands. So, Moses called them to remember and be thankful. (Deuteronomy 8:7-18) This Thursday and Sunday, we prepare for Thanksgiving with worshipping God. Isn’t this where thanksgiving should start? Worship is adoration and praise of God. A life of thanksgiving is one filled with adoration and praise to God, the source of all our many blessings. This week, I encourage you to not forget to praise God from whom all blessings flow. Like with Moses lesson to the Israelites, remember where God has led you and take stock of the blessings which are before you. As the hymn goes, “Count your blessings and see what God has done.” With Gratitude for You, Rev. Sherri
