Substitutionary Atonement
February 18, 2024 • Pastor Mark Reynolds • Romans 3:22–25
The cross is the central symbol of the Christian faith. But why did Jesus have to die to save us from our sins, and what does the cross mean for us today? The Bible uses different images to help us understand the death of Christ, and this Sunday we are starting a new series that will guide us through six of these images, beginning with substitution, the idea that Jesus took our place on the cross. By exploring the mystery of salvation through the cross, we will deepen our love for God and others and strengthen our commitment to follow Jesus.
