Eastertide 2021

Services Easter thru Pentecost

What Are You Saying?

May 23, 2021 • Rev. Brian Sixbey

Tongues of fire, flashes of the Spirit, thousands saved, and the undoing of ancient curses arrived on the day of Pentecost. However, we are often too timid to imagine the Holy Spirit could still move with power today, to undo the curses we face, or bring hope to the hopeless. Help us, Lord, walk into today and tomorrow with purpose, because you aren’t done with us yet! We ask for confidence in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Jesus Pray For Us

May 16, 2021 • Rev. Tommy Markham

Making it through a normal day can be tough especially when we think we are alone. Some folks seem to breeze through the day with no trouble at all. How do they do it? They have the presence of God with them. They start and end the day with prayer. When they feel the need for greater input, they ask for a prayer partner to join them. But wait, there is an even greater source constantly praying for us. It is Jesus who sees our need. Forgive us when we fail to realize our Savior is always with us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Conquering Love

Love and Fear

May 2, 2021 • Rev. Brian Sixbey

Call to Worship This is love: God loved us and sent his Son to be the sacrifice for our sins. Since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. May God’s love begin to become perfect in us today!

The Method of Jesus, the Method of the Methodists

April 25, 2021 • Rev. Greg West, Life in His Name Ministries

As we begin to emerge into something a little more “normal,” we start making decisions about what we will do and what we won’t do. For many, church life is an unnecessary hindrance. For us, who are gathered in person and online, church is a necessity. With everything we can do in our church life, though, help us to see how important simple gatherings in small groups are. Jesus began his ministry by gathering a small group of disciples, and he stayed with them to the end. Help us make our groups the central focus of making disciples, of growing together, of experiencing salvation. We ask for our sake, and for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Living Promise

April 18, 2021 • Rev. Brian Sixbey

We thought we had to figure it out, fix our own problems, and get ourselves ready for God. We did not realize we cannot do this work. But Jesus’ offering has given us the confidence to stand in the presence of God. When he made the sacrifice of himself for us, he made it once and for all – for all time, for all people, for all sin. Free us, Lord, from the bondage of believing we could achieve what Jesus has already done. Free us to accept our forgiveness. Free us to have confidence in God’s presence, even here, even now. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Mission

April 11, 2021 • Rev. Brian Sixbey

Something happens when we read the Bible like a history book – the living words have little impact on our everyday lives. We think things like, “The disciples already brought the good news to the world. What else do we need to do?” Meanwhile, generations have come and gone without knowing the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Remind us that love is a verb, faith is the way we walk and talk, and sharing the good news is a joy that makes life complete. Our cup runs over because we keep filling it from the overflow of God’s joy. Speak life into our lives, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Hope

April 4, 2021 • Rev. Brian Sixbey

The Lord has risen! Christ has risen indeed! Taste and see the goodness of the Lord. Christ has prepared a feast of love!
