Elisha gets a "double" blessing, which doesn't make him greater than Elijah but makes him the "firstborn" of Elijah. Greatness is not all about being first, but it is all about being the fullness of who we are created to be.

Today we consider Naaman and how his experience is similar to our own faith journeys. I wonder what would happen if we looked at our sources of frustration differently and asked God, "What are you trying to show me? Where is the blessing?" I expect that the 'just' we use to diminish things by saying, "It's just awful" would transform to "I just recognized Jesus inviting me to join him."

Elisha and the Widow's oil shows us that God can do a lot with nothing if we let God be in charge. When we are in charge, we hurt others and ourselves, even our tools work against us. Thankfully, God will restore us and repurpose our devices if we let God be God.
