Jesus’ triumph over sin, death, and the devil, brought about the redemption of humanity and established God’s Kingdom here on Earth. So much of what was undone (as evidenced in the opening chapters of Genesis), is redeemed by God as we read through the opening chapters of Acts. Jesus promised his disciples that the Holy Spirit would come and dwell within them -- telling them that it was better for them that he ascended to heaven because the Holy Spirit would be an even better guide and counselor for them. Chapter 1 of the book of Acts ends with the disciples waiting on the Holy Spirit to empower them for the mission Jesus had given them. They were to be witnesses of Christ’s resurrection and champions of God’s new kingdom here on Earth. God was doing something new. God continues to do new things in us and through us to see transformation in us and through us. Join us this Sunday as we continue celebrating Christ’s triumph and surrender to the Spirit’s transformative work in our midst.
