This Sunday we talked about how Jesus wants to offer freedom to those who are bound up. He gave it miraculously to a woman bent over for eighteen years and tried to offer it to the synagogue leader who was bound up by a need to cling to his privileges and power by keeping things the same. Where do you need Jesus to offer you freedom, what are you clinging to that might be keeping you bound up?

This week Jesus taught the religious leaders and us some new table manners, the importance of humility and hospitality if we are going to accept God's gracious invitation to join God's banquet. We considered who is at our table and who isn't, how do we stretch ourselves to welcome and be welcomed at a variety of tables to catch a glimpse of God's realm here on earth. “God does not look at the glitter of our guest list, God looks to see that we have practiced the generosity and inclusiveness of the kingdom in our daily social relationships. One standard offers the reward of social position, the other the reward of God’s favor.” -R.
